Blower Door Test

This final test measures the completed home’s air leakage performance and is typically used for code compliance, EnerGuide, Step Code, builder quality assurance or diagnostics.

How We Perform the Work:
We complete the blower door test once the home is substantially complete and ready for occupancy. For a home to be ready for final blower door testing the following conditions should be met:

• All windows and doors installed and can be closed (locked)
• Mechanical system in place and all vents and ducts connected/sealed to occupancy readiness
• Attic hatch is installed and treated with weather stripping (if applicable)
• Plumbing pipes and p-traps should be filled with water
• Air barrier assemblies are complete

The measured air leakage rate is documented for the required project purpose.

• Final blower door test setup.
• Measurement of final air leakage performance.
• Documentation of test conditions and results.
• Preparation of submission-ready test data, where applicable.
• Final summary for the builder, owner, or project file.
